The FCC today sped up their timeline for migration to digital television, bumping up the date by which many large sets must come with digital tuners. The push to migrate users to digital and high definition television (accompanied by this very sassy website), is driven by the fact the government stands to make tens of billions selling off the old analog frequencies used by existing formats. The money spent on the campaign irritates some critics, who believe the taxpayer money is needed elsewhere.
