"A tussle over antipiracy technology is looming over the young mobile phone content business, with big phone companies claiming that new music and video services could be derailed as a result. At issue is a set of technologies aimed at protecting music and other content from being indiscriminately copied after being sold through mobile phone networks, a critical component of the new content services if record labels and movie studios are to sign on."

Once again Sony proves to be a big fat pain in the ass when it comes to copyright protection. This is one fight I hope Microsoft wins. Janus/WMA DRM may not be perfect, but at least it's a good standard that Plays For Sure across a broad spectrum of hardware. Better to have Microsoft extorting the carriers than Sony.
