AdRelevance co-founder Will Hodgman and mobile data analyst Seamus McAteer are launching m:Metrics, the latest entrant in the nascent mobile metrics category. Nielsen Entertainment announced Nielsen Mobile earlier this month. The two plan to come up with every potentially meaningful mobile metric by tracking devices, channels and markets.

The inaugural Benchmark Report shows:
-- no gender gap when it comes to playing mobile games but men are much more likelt to download a game
-- text message use is highest among the under-24 crowd but was used last month by 52 percent of those 25-34 and 37 percent of those 35-44.
-- 58 percent do more than talk
-- Weather, maps, sports scores and news are anmong the most sought-after topics.
