Video Google

Jeff Jarvis predicts mad crazy changes in the way TV is created and delivered. Notable:

There will need to be a Google of video -- a means of helping people find what they want. And, no, that&'s not just about creating a search engine. It's about capturing the metadata we create when we watch and share things and making sense of it. It's not trivial but it's vital for without a great guide, we’ll never find the programming we want and this new medium won't work. This video Google thing will be the next Google and TV Guide and it will be big. And I doubt that either Google or TV Guide will be the one to create it.
(Hey, Eli. At least someone's listening to you. j/k ;) -kc.)

unless there are some crazy advances in video processing, i don't think you could use google-like abilities on video.... ontology and metadata is about the best we got, and that's as accurate as those who chose to make it made it...

google's strength is in pagerank and the creds that a page gets over time, and using metadata is tantamount to going back to pre-google search days where one word that was used in your page meant (somehow) that you were actually talking about that word in all contexts. Not good!

I dunno... "unmediated" seems to strive for video that doesn't pass a test of wether or not it's from a reliable or well-linked source. Quite the opposite, eh?

Whatever it winds up being, (perhaps OurMedia) ? , it will definately be needed.
