The Weekly Show #4, streamed on 10/11/2004 and featured Drazen Pantic from Location One and Dan Melinger. We discussed Location One's election night citizens' media project, The Waiting Room. We also took a look back at some of the unmediated news that stood out this past week.

Unfortunately, The Weekly Show has taken a short hiatus and will not be streaming live this week. We are working on ways to distribute the production of the show to everyone who is interested (YOU) when we aren't available and would love to hear ideas on ways to do this. Please speak up!
Everything's looking grand!
Except - the link to the reblog OPML is 404'ing.
Actually I might as well extend my request - I'm assembling a biggish file of feedlinks for testing purposes - target 2500, I'm at around 1900. I'm trying to get stuff that I'd actually be interested in myself, and the unmediated material definitely falls into that category. The aim is an aggregator that can comfortably (and usefully) handle that volume. So if you have any similar personal or other feedlists you wouldn't mind sharing, please drop me a line.
One other thought - a place for general comments might be useful ;-)
Thanks.

I like your ideas regarding a "Positive News webcast". Have a look at the ITJ project website at http://www.walking-productions.com/itj/ . It details the setup that we use for The Weekly Show. If you still have questions, drop me a line.
Hey - do we have to do the show every Monday @ 2.00p? How about Tuesday? Or later in the day? Much of the show's content is produced by the folks in the chat room -- Maybe we could ask the chatters what time is best for them. Perhaps it might be best to move the show to a time that's more convenient for everyone.... I don't know how many folks are going to read this comment but of those who do, what does everyone think?
Posted by: yatta at October 26, 2004 03:33 AMWhile I've missed the last two chats because Monday at 2:00 just didn't work, I do like the idea of a regular time slot. Both Monday and Friday suffer from being frequent vacation/travel days though.
Posted by: Daniell Krawczyk at October 28, 2004 12:46 AMDear Sean,
Thanks for the link. I have been exploring it and beyond. Looks like this might be my next pet project. If I get anything happening I will be sure to let you guys know. I can see I have a lot to learn though.
Ciao for now,
Posted by: Morgan Daly at October 28, 2004 08:07 AMThe decision for Monday's at 2PM was to pick a time on a day of the week that people were likely to be at work all around the world. It falls within the work day for all of North and South America, a good portion of Europe and Africa and it is not too late in Asia.

For now, I run a LOCAL internet radio show all about Long Beach, CA. I am interested in hearing from BLOGGERS and PODCASTERS from the LBC!

Hello again,
I am slowly trying to understand how this stuff works.
My biggest question at the moment is BandWidth?
How many people watch the Unmediated Broadcast? Do you need heaps of bandwidth to deliver it to all the people that might be watching? If not how are you guys doing it? Do you have your own server etc?

Hello from Australia.
This whole site is great. I am part of a futures discussion group, www.hotfutures.net.au (we are nowhere near as regular as you guys are) and yours is one of the sites I check regularly and update the group on.
I was so happy to see that you guys are testing another tool on your own website.I watched #4 and I think it is great. I would love to see this is the hands of differing communities.
My own personal idea is for a Positive News webcast in response to the negative media of both our mass and often Alternatives medias. The first stage would be a website just like the odemagazine.com site.
In thinking about that, I was wondering what the tools are to do this. Is there a list of these tools with basic instruction? Also what sort of costs are involved. I am sorry if this info is all over this website and I have just missed it.
Thanks
